New Thrill Park Planned for Orlando
Yesterday it was announced by the Orlando area news outlets that a new thrill park is apparently in the works for Orlando. The park, which would be built on 77.7 acres of undeveloped land on the North end of International Drive at 5001 Vanguard St next to the Festival Bay Mall, will feature as many as 15 rides with some rides needing FAA consultation due to some rides with planned heights of 425ft. The current intended name for the park is "Orlando Thrill Park." With neighborhoods nearby the developers understand that the addition of the park will increase traffic in the area and bring about more noise but also note that this will also bring about new jobs. Hunting For the Right Name
Today Busch Gardens Tampa Bay made their long awaited announcement of the their new attraction. In spring of 2011 BGT will unveil their 7th roller coaster, Cheetah Hunt! The new attraction, built by Intamin will be a Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) Launch Coaster with 4,429 feet of track, three launch section, reaching a maximum speed of 60 miles per hour and will also feature its longest drop of 130 feet. With the presentation of a new ride to the park you would figure that all of the hype about the ride today would surround how unique of an experience it will be.....Well if that's what you thought....then you couldn't have been more WRONG! Once the news broke just after 9 this morning it became very clear that fans were happy with the ride itself but not with the name. For as far back as June spectators have convinced themselves that the name of the ride would be "Cheetaka" but were extremely upset to see the true name. Fans of the BGT facebook page even spent the day expressing their negative emotions all over the wall. I honestly can't get mad at BGT because they never promised us what the name of the ride would be and they even told us to stay tuned for their reveal because the things that we were hearing from outside sources were just rumors......even though I must admit it would be cool if the name was "Cheetaka"....I'm just sayin. For more information on what's new visit the Busch Gardens 2011 site.
